DEAR FRIENDS

PLEASE JOIN ME FOR AN INCREDIBLE EVENING OF CLASSICAL INDIAN MUSIC WITH CALCUTTA MUSICIANS PARTHA BOSE AND INDRANIL MALLICK AT MY SAN ANSELMO HOME.

Widely acknowledged as a leading contemporary instrumentalist, PARTHA BOSE represents the MAIHAR GHARANA (school/musical tradition), well-known for producing maestros of yester years including  Pandit Ravi Shankar & Ustad Ali Akbar.

Trained in SITAR by veteran Guru (Master) Pandit Monoj Shankar for 46 years, Bose divides his time between Calcutta (his home-city) and the rest of the world, performing, teaching, lecturing, composing, at reputed venues, including major festivals and well-known universities.

Partha was the first Indian musician to be featured in a 3-year-project of lecture-demonstrations in Canadian schools sponsored by Malhar Gourp & funded by Ontario Government’s Trillium Foundation. His performace was hosted at McMaster univ during Canada Culture Days in 2010.

His recent workshops & lecdems at Manhattan School of Music (NY), Univ of Montreal, York Univ, McMaster univ, Indiana State Univ, etc highlight the academic aspect of his musicality & his articulation of expression while interacting with students of diverse cultural background.

Partha Bose was the only Indian musician among invitees from 89 countries at National Multicultural Festival hosted by the Government of Australia  in Canberra in 2007. He was also the only Indian musician to perform Classical North Indian Music in Bath Festival (UK) in 2006.

International media, including BBC Radio, CBC Radio & Television, Voice of America, Voice of Russia, Indian Radio & Television have featured Bose in interviews & music-sessions, to share his vision of music & life in music.

The Government of India invited Partha Bose to lead a cultural delegation to African countries on the historic occasion of Golden Jubilee of India’s Independence.  www.thesitarist.com

Talent, virtuosity and youthful dynamism blend in perfect proportion to project INDRANIL MALLICK as a leading TABLA-PLAYER of his generation. Intensive training since the age of 5 under eminent masters including uncle MONTU MALLICK, Prof DHABOL BANDYOPADHYAY, Shri UTTAM CHAKRABORTY and currently, Maestro SWAPAN CHAUDHURI have shaped INDRANIL’s rich repertoire and justify his reputation in the national & international arena.

INDRANIL has also distinguished himself in cross-over collaborations with western musicians including a recent project with Miles Davis Electric Band.

INDIAN RADIO & TELEVISION have awarded INDRANIL “A GRADE ” together with distinguished musicians of India.

Lauded by connoisseurs & critics for his solo performances and accompaniment with renowned musicians, INDRANIL was the FIRST TABLA-PLAYER to receive the prestigious PANDIT BHIMSEN JOSHI AWARD  in 2015.

I hope you will be able to join us for what I’m sure will be a heavenly evening of utterly sublime music.  Here’s a sample of the beauty we will be drenched in: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qxVX0ZE-tlQ
